Part 6: Protecting Milk Supply When Feeding Is Challenging
If your baby is having difficulty latching, is very sleepy, or is temporarily unable to feed effectively, milk supply still needs support.
In those situations, regular milk removal — through hand expression or pumping — helps protect ongoing production. Early, consistent expression mirrors normal newborn feeding patterns and supports the body’s transition to mature milk.
Even small amounts matter. This is about maintaining communication with the body, not measuring success by volume alone.
